I probably started the year the best way someone can…on vacation and it wasn’t a short one !! Headed off to Central America, Panama and spent one and half months getting to know a country that has more to it then just a canal. If you’ve been following my Instagram then you know what I mean 😉
Arrived at Tocumen International Airport in Panama City and headed strait to Puerto Lindo. To better understand how the country is geographically positioned you have to keep in mind Panama is long and narrow and practically parallel to the equator…so, when you think you are heading north in Panama you are actually going West and when heading South you’re going East…(well, it made me confused). Fun fact, you get to see both Pacific and Atlantic Ocean in a matter of 2 hours by car, crossing through the narrowest part alongside the famous canal. Stayed in Puerto Lindo and explored it’s surrounding for about 2 weeks before heading to one of the most beautiful places I have ever been (which i’ll be showing you soon) ! Puerto Lindo is a small fishermen village with very few houses and a baseball field. If you plan to go diving or make a PADI license you can do it at the Panama Reef Divers just at the entrance of the village (very useful tip: it’s the only place with good WIFI). From here you can catch a water taxi that takes you from the mainland to white sand and coconut islands like Isla Mamey and Isla Grande. We stayed at Hostel Wunderbar, a 5 min walk from the village surrounded by the rainforest, waking up every morning to the sound of tropical birds and howling monkeys…great way to start the day.
